The Essential Process
A intensive design workshop project I worked on. It was hosted by the Queensland Museum in collaboration Holloway Eyewear. I designed the form or the frames(shape) and Holloway completed the rest of the glasses(everything else!).

In the workshop I learned about Essential Design and how vital it is to be applied in practice, as sociological and Environmental design issues arising from unsustainable product design. It really got me thinking about our responsibility to design products out of necessity, looking at the macro and micro scale. What do we really need to live comfortably with these resources we have at our disposal?

The Eye-wear has been made from up-cycled materials and its more a social symbol for a movement towards sustainable consumption alternatives. For example, the frames are made from the wood from a used skateboard. Which gives the glasses a surprising novelty but also opens sustainablity up as a topic of discussion with whoever.
This video shows a little portion of my work designing the form of the glasses. [Frame shape]
